Clara Venture Labs AS (CVL) is Aker's company for developing and scaling businesses in industrial technology. Since its launch in November 2021, the initiative has been strengthened with 30 new employees, including the venture companies Alma Clean Power, LayerOne, and Additech. Changes have also been made to the departmental structure, and a lease agreement has been signed for an additional 1000 square meters of office space at Fantoft.

The continued strengthening of the organization is driven by the need to further develop Clara Venture Labs as an innovation environment while dedicating leadership to building the leading industrial companies of the future.

Michelle Williams has over 30 years of leadership experience from the Armed Forces and the maritime industry. She has extensive experience in operational and industrial disciplines, as well as business development in maritime technology. Williams has previously served as CEO of Grieg Logistics, Managing Director at CCB Mongstad, and has experience in investment environments and fund management structures. She is educated at the Naval Academy (Operational Navy) and served in the Navy for 12 years. In 2020, she also completed the Executive Course at the Norwegian Defence University College.

"It's hard to imagine a more meaningful job than helping to make the ideas that will shape our future come to life. I'm glad to have this opportunity and look forward to tackling the extensive and important tasks with all the talented people in the organization," says Michelle Williams.

Bernt Skeie has led Prototech (now CVL) since 2013 and has helped ensure that the company's unique expertise in aerospace and energy systems has found new applications. Moving forward, Bernt Skeie will take on the role of CEO at Alma Clean Power to develop it into a market-leading company in green shipping and offshore operations. He will also be responsible for the commercialization of Clara Venture Labs' technology in aerospace.

"The establishment of Clara Venture Labs is the most exciting thing to have happened in Bergen in the past decade, and being able to work dedicatedly on the industrialization of our technologies in 'Space & Ocean Space' is something I really look forward to," says Bernt Skeie.

Together with the rest of the Clara Venture Labs leadership team, Williams and Skeie will soon invite partners and employees to the opening of Clara Venture Floor at Fantoft. The event will take place in April and will include a tour of the new facilities and status updates from our ventures. The event will conclude with a pleasant social gathering.
